Today and through a series of articles, we will follow Annemiek in her preparations for the famous Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP) hike.
A quick reminder of the Paris-Brest-Paris race.
Organized by theAudax Club Parisien, Paris-Brest-Paris randonneur is a 1 km return cycle tour from Yvelines (Paris region) to Brest. The goal is to complete the 200 km in less than 1 hours. It takes place every four years, the next edition will take place from Sunday August 200 to Thursday August 90, 20. For this edition, registrations were open to 24 enthusiasts, including 2023 places reserved for French cyclists. You will have understood that this is a fairly substantial hike. This is why Brevets de Randonneurs Mondiaux (BRM) must be validated in order to be able to register and thus avoid abandonments which could be due to poor preparation.
Presentation of Annemiek
Now that the proof has been presented, let Annemiek introduce herself!
“I bought my first road bike in 2013 in France. I have always ridden a city bike (like almost all Dutch people [note, you will understand, she is of Dutch origin]), but never a carbon road bike with clip-on shoes, etc.
I did two times a holiday on my bike - a holiday/trekking bike - once from the Netherlands to Bordeaux and back and once from the Netherlands to the Luberon and back. I had my tent and everything with me. On the second trip, I met a French couple also on holidays and they told me about PBP. I didn't even have a road bike then, but they said it would probably 'be something nice for me'. So when one year after I bought my bike and I overheard someone saying: 'PBP is next year', I knew I wanted to join. »
This is how Annemiek participated in the 2015 edition of PBP. Since then, she has participated in many international cycling events such as KOM Taiwan (2017 and 2018), Tibet Challenge Shenzhen (2018), GranFondo Costa Almeria (2019), Trans Atlantic Way (2021).
