Qualifying patents
In order to limit drop-outs, each participant in the cycle touring event must achieve within a defined period of time, four Brevets de Randonneurs Mondiaux (BRM) of: 200 km, 300 km, 400 km and 600 km. These BRMs are defined by the Audax Club Parisien (ACP), the organizing club of the Paris-Brest-Paris Randonneur. Several BRMs are offered around the world and of course in different French regions. On May 7, Annemiek chose the BRM400 from Andrésy (Yvelines).
#BRM400 Andrésy: find out how to dress when it's hot during the day and cold at night
The weekend of May 7 was a real spring weekend in Ile-de-France. Indeed, it could have been up to 20°C but the rain also came at times. And of course, the night was quite cool. But let Annemiek explain it all to you.
“It was not easy to decide how to dress, because carrying too many clothes would not be comfortable during the day in direct sunlight and it would mean additional luggage, but too little could be problematic because of the cold during the night. I decided to wear shorts, two pairs of socks, two baselayers and a short-sleeved jersey with arm warmers, a light windbreaker and mittens. For the night, I took knee pads, shoe covers, a thicker windproof vest and a fluorescent vest, mid-season gloves and a neck warmer. It was exactly what I needed. All kit came from OZIO and turned out to be of superb quality.”
“For food, we planned to stop at a few bakeries during the day, but we still needed enough energy on the bike and for the night. I took several energy bars and some backup gels (which I didn't use). I filled a bottle with energy drink, one with Concap and another with water. I also took two bananas, gingerbread and a cheese sandwich for the night. I had food left over at the end, so it turned out great!
A big thank you to Christian and Ozio for the very nice and comfortable kit (even after 18 hours of cycling). Thanks to Concap for the energy. Thanks to my friend Pacotora for always believing in me. And of course a big thank you to Benoit, Patrick and Grégoire, my traveling companions for supporting me.”
The final word :
“The weekend was another great adventure and a great journey. Some difficult moments due to lack of sleep or cold following stops during the night. But overall it was a fantastic way to spend time on my bike.”
